In this story, the narrator portrays the character of Makar to show how people suffer because of ineffective leadership and bad decisions. In this story, Makara, being powerful, rose to the position of a leader and dominated the entire forest.
It ruled so arrogantly that it did not allow fellow speakers to speak against its decision on driving other animals out of the forest. It noticed flaws in the behavior of other animals and chased them one by one, including turtles, snakes and lizards.
These decisions taken by Makara created trouble for himself as well as for others and hence lost his power. When the animals made a group decision, the situation eventually returned to normal. The story stresses the importance of being united.
